Best option: if you have a tape measure, enter the dimensions manually. Photo measurement is a convenience for situations where you do not.
Why two photographs?
A front photograph can estimate height and width, but not depth. The tool therefore asks for a front view and a side view. An A4 sheet or metric ruler must be placed flat against the same face being measured. For a ruler, use the 0–10 cm marks to provide the scale.
What happens in the browser?
- Press and drag along the known reference length.
- Drag left-to-right, then top-to-bottom across the bag’s outermost edges; add a side photo for depth.
- The browser converts each line to centimetres using the reference length.
- The bag dimensions are tested in all six possible rectangular orientations against the selected airline limit.
We use the full outer size as a conservative check. Airline rules differ: Wizz Air says handles and wheels are excluded from the size allowance, but wheels may extend by up to 5 cm. A photo estimate may therefore be conservative for Wizz Air; check the linked official rule when the result is close.
The image and marked points are processed on your device. This version does not send the photograph to a server.
Where errors come from
Perspective, a reference object that is not in the same plane as the bag, soft or bulging fabric, hidden wheels, camera lens distortion, and imprecise drags can all change the estimate. Stand back slightly and zoom rather than using an ultra-wide lens. Keep the camera square to the bag and use good light.
How the result is classified
Manual measurements within 2 cm of a limit are marked as close. Photo estimates use a wider 3 cm caution zone. If your result is close, measure the bag physically. A green result is not a boarding guarantee; airline staff and airport measuring frames have the final say.
Rule sources
Each result links to the airline’s own baggage page. Rules are checked periodically, but airlines can change allowances by route, fare, membership, aircraft, or package. Your booking confirmation and the airline source take priority over this website.
